Who can honestly say they haven’t pleaded with the Lord on high to drive a settee as quickly as possible around a racetrack? I know I have, several times today already. With tears of hope pouring down my desperate cheeks. Now there is hope.
Your Wacky Racers Driving Experience features crazy vehicular contraptions concocted by mechanical television regular Edd China. You might have seen on motoring juggernaut Top Gear. No, that’s Richard Hammond, he’s that one. Yes.
Some of Edd’s manic machines that you get a chance to drive around the Oval Raceway include a motorised office chair (jackets and ties provided) and a fast moving leopard-print sofa (we’re talking nearly 90mph, people). Then there’s the entirely pointless but exhilarating double-decker car, with steering up top and pedals worked by someone else below.
After all that excitement, you’ll need some time to unwind. So next up is a chauffer driven jaunt around the English countryside in the world's fastest street-legal bed! Yes, you did hear me correctly, a moving bed. Other outrageous four-wheeled marvels will be on display during your visit. And you can silence those naysayers who refuse to believe you’ve just got back from driving a chair around a racetrack by presenting them, with your personalised, souvenir certificate. Or even photographs of your unforgettable day – like some weird, motorised wedding from hell.
Finally, when your grandchildren approach you and ask ‘how many fast-moving motorised sofa’s did you drive Grandpa?’ you can honestly answer, ‘One’.

What happens on the day?
The experience starts with light refreshments, which you might think is the highlight, but wait! Then there’s a briefing on the day's events, such as ‘yes, that is a motorised chair’. You will be kitted out in race overalls before taking to the Raceway for the first activity of the day. Jackets and ties are provided as you head off for a chauffeured trip in a fully equipped office. Strapped safely into your office chair you'll experience three breathtaking laps of the Oval Raceway. You will then remove the jacket and tie. Next up take a seat on the iconic leopard print sofa, capable of travelling up to 87mph, as seen on TV's Top Gear. No, that’s Richard Hammond. You'll complete three chauffeur driven laps of the track. Then take control of the Double-Decker car – the driver in the top car handles the steering whilst another driver in the bottom car works the pedals! Like some demonic, vehicular abomination – with brakes. Then it’s time for the world's fastest street-legal bed. Snugly tucked under a duvet (duvet design undecided at time of press), you will be chauffeur-driven around the British countryside to take in scenic views on a five-mile ride. You will also see demonstrations of other amazingly Wacky cars throughout your experience! Then you receive the all important personalised souvenir certificate. Photographs will be available to purchase. And once you see yourself on a settee with a motor – you’ll want a photo. The total time on site is around three hours. It will go by quickly. This voucher is valid for 10 months and is for one person. The event takes place on selected dates, usually weekends, with some weekday availability. Various start times are available between 9:00am and 5:00pm. Maximum weight 20 stones. A full driving licence is not required however you must know how to drive a car. The minimum age to participate in the full experience is 16 years, under 16s may participate in some aspects of the event excluding Double-Decker Cars. Parental consent is required for those under 16 years. Light refreshments are provided and hot food is available for purchase on site. Spectators are welcome for a fee of £10 per person. This fee covers light refreshments, a Wacky Races Goodie Bag and a Souvenir Programme. Should the event be cancelled due to very bad weather, alternative dates will be offered.
