As Scooby Doo has shown us, the dark holds many secrets. Usually a disgruntled property developers with projector skills. But now the dark holds a new terror: zombies.

You will all of heard of our varied and horrifying zombie experiences. But how to make them even more flap-clenchingly scary? The answer came when they turned off our power due to unpaid bills. ‘Ah, ha,’ we said and shivered. ‘The dark!’

Everything is more frightening in the dark. Especially things that are already frightening in the first place. I mean, it could be a bright, mid-summer morning in a well-lit pasture and our zombies would still make you want to go to the toilet, not in a good way.

In the dark, they are even more fearsome. The lunging is more lungy. The groaning is more groany. And the scabs, well they are simply more scabby. Almost too scabby in some respects. But don’t worry, you’ll have a friend, colleague or disgruntled loved one by your side to hold your hand – possibly as it’s just been ripped off by a zombie.

What happens on the day?

Here’s how the horror unfolds. On arrival at the zombie encampment, you’ll be kitted out and trained by ex-military personnel who know their way around a gun and a bayonet. You’ll be squeezed into a stab vest (don’t worry our zombies aren’t stabbing zombies), bump cap, safety goggles and gloves. If it’s damp, we will provide a set of waterproofs. And it will be damp.

Then in small groups you’ll be sent out into the darkness to deal with the zombie menace. And brother, will they ever be lurking. Down corridors, around corners, in the shadows, zombies will be all over like a blotchy rash, just waiting to have a chomp on you. You’ll need all your cunning, guile and high-pitched noises to defeat them.

Once this particular mission is over, it’ll be straight back into zombie land, this time vehicular propelled in our zombie van (the van isn’t a zombie, it just hates zombies) in groups of eight for a full-scale pitched battle against these creatures of the night that were once like you and me, but are now zombie scum to be dispatched.

It’s so scary, we’ve had a bit of an accident just writing about it. Don’t miss out on our amazing Zombie Boot Camp After Dark Experience!
