Bone chilling stuff, I think you’ll agree. We've prepared a bespoke, abandoned shopping centre in Reading, sprinkled to the gills with maniacal ZOMBIES lusting for your tender brains.

We know you want to combat them until they cannot be combated anymore. And now you have the chance.

What happens on the day?

In this spectacular ‘full immersion’ experience, you’ll be briefed and armed by the Police Special Zombie Bashing Unit. They’ll fill you in on the full, unfolding, undead apocalypse that is going down in Reading town. An apocalypse that, for once, you didn’t cause, but will have to try and fix.

Then you’ll hit the spooky, deserted shopping mall, but you won’t be shopping for that lovely little Pashmina you saw in Littlewoods. Instead, you and your team will be depleting the zombie population with full Bronson-style perspicacity. Using state of the art special effects and large, blood-inducing props you’ll tackle a series of computer game like missions in a full-on 'run and gun' gore fest.

It’s like your favourite Zombie movie come to life! Remember that hilarious undead rom-com ‘I Eat On Your Face’? How many times have you watched that? Too many. And now, you won’t just be lying on your filthy futon watching it, you’ll be acting it out with a gaggle of like-minded lunatics. You and your hardy group of zombie annihilators tracking the living dead up and down the mean escalators of this mall of doom.

FAQ

Where is the Zombie Shopping Mall and how do I get there?
It's in Reading, Berkshire, 25 minutes or so by train from London Paddington station. You can also reach the experience by car (the postcode is RG1 1NR).

How long will Zombie Shopping Mall be available for?
In short: we don't know yet. The venue - a disused shopping centre in Reading - is due for demolition. We'll be taking bookings for as long as we are able to, but may have to withdraw this experience from sale at short notice. Please book ASAP to avoid disappointment - when it's gone it's gone!

Is it available on this particular date?
Zombie Shopping Mall has availability most weekends from June 2013, with some dates remaining in May. This may change at short notice.

To book a specific date, order your ticket now & you'll receive a unique activation code. This lets you choose the date you want to take part. If you can't find the date you want, contact us as we may be able to arrange a custom event. (And if you can't get the date that works, contact us within 30 days of booking for a full and prompt refund.)

How many people can take part?
You can book for any number of people you like: from just one person through to a group of 20. On the day, there will be up to 20 people taking part.

Do you take group bookings?
Some things are more fun in groups. We think Zombie Shopping Mall is one of them.

When does it run?
This experience runs all year round on weekends only. Latest availability is listed at the top of this page.

What time does it start and finish?
Weekend sessions run from 9:00am-1:00pm and 1:30pm-5:30pm. Weekday sessions run 1:00-5:00pm and 6:00-10:00pm.

What if I'm late?
Please don't be late! The event starts promptly, so you're advised to arrive 15-30 minutes before your session starts. If you're late, you may not be able to take part - this is for your safety and the safety of those around you.

Are there any extra costs on the day?
No, none at all. Everything you need to battle zombies is included. Any extras (like video recordings) are completely optional, and won't affect your odds of surviving the zombie apocalypse.

What weapons will we use and what happens?
During the first session you’ll meet with a team of police firearm specialists who will provide you with airsoft weapons and give you basic training on how to use them to stay alive! During this 2-2.5 hour session you’ll be part of a story which unfolds in real time. You and your group will then take on the zombies in a “run and gun” battle. The experience will not just about shooting zombies - ammunition will be limited with only a few opportunities to refuel As a survivor you will speed, steady nerves and smart thinking if you’re to make it out alive!

What should I wear?
Please bring suitable clothing and footwear that you don’t mind getting dirty. The Mall isn't heated, so you may need warm clothing (though you'll be running around a little).

Am I allowed to bring my own weapons?
No, you will be provided with all the necessary zombie-fighting weapons on the day.

Are we permitted to carry cameras during the event?
Cameras aren't allowed during the event itself, but you'll be able to take photos at the end.

Do I need to be fit? Will I get hurt?
This event is physical in nature and therefore requires that participants all have a reasonable level of fitness. Any underlying medical conditions must be discussed with the organisers when booking. This experience involves live action horror and gore and as is therefore not suitable for anyone of a nervous disposition.

The zombies may jump on you, murmur ‘brains’ and hold you down, but not in a manner whereby you will get hurt. There is no fighting or violence. Not on our watch.

How many zombies are you up against during the experience?
There are lots of zombie. Loads of them, possibly. Definitely more than you can handle if you don’t work with your fellow survivors!

Will I die if the zombies get me and if so, will I then be out of the game?
No, there are a number of ways to deal with a situation where you get cornered by the zombies. This is not a 'game' as such, so your team mates will have a chance to rescue you. This does not mean to say that it is a pleasant experience if you do get taken down though!

Is it suitable for children?
The minimum age to take part is 16 years old.

Is there somewhere to get food & drink?
Zombie fighting is hard work. Tea, coffee, water and snack bars are included in the price.

Is there somewhere my husband/wife/children/dog can watch?
There's no viewing gallery in the Mall, sadly, but there are plenty of hostelries and shops to entertain anybody opting out of the apocalypse.
